Position Summary

This position will help lead our data transformation efforts and ultimately be responsible for the ongoing evolution and management of our data and business intelligence strategy, ensuring the availability, accuracy, and usability of data assets for various business units. This role will work with a team across multiple disciplines, collaborating with stakeholders, and fostering a data-driven culture across the organization. This position will be a key driver and contributor on transforming our many legacy data platforms into a modern, scalable ecosystem powered by a unified enterprise data model and integrating data across the organization.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Bring thought leadership and experience to PI’s data transformation efforts. Oversee the design, implementation and subsequent maintenance of data architectures, data models, and data pipelines to support data reporting and analytics, ensuring scalability and performance.
  • Lead the integration of technology and application strategy with PI’s business strategic goals and identify opportunities that add long-term value.
  • Recognize and adopt best practices, including data integrity, timeliness, accuracy, and reliability, as well as up to date documentation.
  • Leads PI’s Data Committee; maintain a data governance model, including standards, policies and procedures, that continues to elevate data as a strategic asset.
  • Drive the continued evolution of business intelligence solutions, including dashboards, reports, data analytics and data visualization tools to present key company performance indicators and empower decision-makers with actionable insights.
  • Partner with key functions/business leaders in requirements gathering for enhancements to business reporting, develop prioritization in alignment with corporate priorities, and deliver usable solutions for end customers. Understand the “why” behind customers' requests, ensuring related solutions answer the deeper question and achieve the related business objectives.
  • Leverage strong communication skills and demonstrate a passion for using data and analysis to drive business decisions at scale. Experienced at translating complex technical and data terms into language the business understands.
  • Work directly with business teams and leaders to identify opportunities to improve products, tools, data (both structured and unstructured), and analytics. Continually improve ongoing processes by automating and/or simplifying self-service support for customers.
  • Perform at the strategic level for optimizing and streamlining data engineering processes and data warehouse platform design; oversee data & analytics projects from the initiation phase through
    production readiness.
  • Provide evaluations, analysis, and recommendations for system enhancements, performance optimization techniques, and development methodology advancements.
  • Create solutions that adhere to privacy, governance, legal, compliance and other standards. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards related to technology operations. Partner with/support the AVP of IT in prioritizing data security.
  • Stay up to date with relevant emerging technologies and trends, evaluating their potential impact on the organization.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team to drive organizational excellence.
     
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in computer science, engineering, data science or related fields and/or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of data architect/engineering/science experience and 5+ years of management experience
  • Experience managing teams in complex environments with legacy systems
  • Comfortable navigating multiple, and sometimes competing priorities
  • Strong, hands-on experience as a technologist working with data warehouse solutions, cloud technology, relational databases and dashboarding tools such as Oracle, MySQL, Qlik, Tableau, SQL Server, Power BI, Python, R programming, etc.
  • Experience working with cloud and modern data platforms such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Snowflake, etc., with understanding of cost, security, and architecture
  • Experience with creating technical roadmaps and driving data projects to timely delivery
  • Experience navigating a complex technical and organizational environment
  • Experience with Big Data, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence and/or partnering with business experts to develop predictive models a bonus

The salary range for this position is $147,900 to $236,300. Starting salary is determined by several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for an annual company bonus at an incentive target level of 15%.
